CWU Trumpet Quintet Travel to NTC 2023
Donation protected
Five Central Washington University trumpet players have been selected to advance to the live preliminary rounds of the 2023 National Trumpet Competition. The competition will take place this March at the University of Colorado, Boulder. For the first time since 2020, the CWU Trumpet Quintet has been selected as one of 40 small ensembles from around the nation to perform in this prestigious competition for a chance to receive international recognition and cash prizes. One member of the quintet, Amy Boedigheimer, has also been selected to compete as one of 60 undergraduate soloists at this year’s competition.
NTC is an opportunity for the CWU Trumpet Quintet to represent the CWU Music Department and Ellensburg’s music community on a national stage. The quintet is also thrilled to be premiering a brand new composition by Dr. Eric Richards titled “Event Horizon.” This work was commissioned by the CWU Trumpet Club in 2021 and the quintet is excited to finally premiere it at such a renowned event. Help Amy Boedigheimer, Jacob Batchelder, Daniel Garcia, Kolby Arnold, and Corie Williamson to reach their fundraising goal of $3,400. This money will go directly to ground transportation, flights, and lodging expenses.
The CWU Trumpet Quintet is hoping to raise enough funds through generous donations to make this trip a reality. The following is a budget breakdown of their travel expenses:
Lodging: $1,162.90
Airfare: $1,689.00
Ground Transportation: $557.43
Total Cost: $3,409.33
Total Cost Per Student: $681.87
The members of this ensemble are grateful for every donation, no matter the size. However, a tiered donation system has been created to thank their donors on a more personal level. Based on the size of your donation, all donors are eligible to receive the following:
Gold Tier
- $1-$49
