Our hearts are heavy to announce the passing of our caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Hedeat Zeregaber. Hedeat was born on April 10, 1963, in Asmara, Eritrea, where she met and married her husband, Micheal Zeregaber. In 1981, she and Michael moved to Khartoum, Sudan, where they started their family. Six years later, they moved to Alabama, where the family then grew, and in 1999, their journey ended in Charlotte, North Carolina. Unfortunately, in 2011 Hedeat was diagnosed with kidney failure and fought a valiant struggle with several complications until April 27, 2022.
Despite her health battles, Hedeat continued to serve the Charlotte Eritrean community for decades. She was an active member of Hamade Charlotte and a pillar of the community. Hedeat was loved by so many. She always knew how to brighten someone's day and make them feel loved. She treated everyone with kindness and respect. You were forever changed if you were lucky enough to spend more than five minutes in her presence.
We are so grateful to have had a wife, a mother, a sister, and a friend who embraced each day with optimism. Our hearts are saddened by this loss, but we are committed to keeping her memory alive.
To help this family with this challenge and allow them to only worry about healing, we are setting up a GoFundMe page for financial assistance.
The family would like to thank everyone for their ongoing support and prayers!
