Helping My Aunt After Surgery

My aunt is one of the hardest working people I know. She moved back to Richmond in 2018 and at the age of 66, truly had to start over. She wasn't sure what she wanted to do, but knew that she would have to work to survive. She has always had a love of things being neat and tidy and so she decided to try cleaning houses. Over the years she has cleaned many houses for many faithful clients who have become friends. She has done all of this while struggling with rheumatoid arthritis. You can look at her hands and tell how much they must hurt, but she never complains. She keeps going because now, at 71, it is what she has to do to survive.

Three weeks ago, while vacuuming she felt something pop in her shoulder and ended up in excruciating pain. After going to the ER and then finally being seen by an orthopedist, she found out she has a fully torn rotator cuff. She has continued to clean houses through the pain, using just her left arm. She needs surgery on her shoulder, but this will require her to be unable to clean houses at the capacity she is now for several months. I have set up this Go Fund Me as a way to allow her to have surgery without the fear and worry that comes along with not knowing how you are going to pay your bills. Any money donated will be used for her monthly expenses until she is able to get back to cleaning full time.

It is hard to be in a place where you need to ask for help. I have assured her that all of us, at some point in time, have been in a situation where we had to ask for help when we didn't want to. I'm asking you to show her that not only her friends, but complete strangers care about her. It is my hope that she will go into surgery not only knowing that she is taken care of financially but that she is also loved and supported by so many people.
