My Mom's Dream House

Hi, my name is Gabriel and this is the story of my mom.
Embark on a journey of resilience and triumph with us. In 1979, my mom escaped the genocide of Cambodia by reaching the Thailand border. Apprehended by Thai soldiers, she and her relatives spent over six months in the refugee camp, another six months in the Philippines before finally making her way to Seattle, Washington in 1980.
In 1996, she faced a heartbreaking decision, leaving her family to escape domestic violence from her husband. She relocated to Southern California where in 1999, she partnered with her cousins to acquire a donut shop business. For 20 years, she made numerous sacrifices in successfully running this business until her well-deserved retirement in 2019.
In 2013, my mom spent 12 to 13 months battling the bank to acquire a house she had bid on. As a single mom with a sole income source from her donut shop, she faced challenges qualifying for the house. Undeterred, she believed this was her home, persistently fighting for it and eventually succeeding in purchasing her house in San Diego. Her vision extended beyond ownership. She hoped to build additions, creating a space for family members to visit, stay, and have a place while in San Diego.
Recently, her dream faced a setback when a fraudulent contractor swindled her, pocketing $245,000 and leaving the construction of her dream house in limbo. We've set a goal to raise $200,000 to not only complete her dream home but also help others facing similar challenges.
We project will be broken into 3 stages:
Stage 1: $75,000 to complete the rough framing, windows, doors, drywalls, drainage trenching, electrical, plumbing.
Stage 2: $50,000 to complete the exterior and solar.
Stage 3: $75,000 to flooring, 2x bathroom fixtures, kitchentry and cabinetry, ceiling and indoor/outdoor lighting fixtures,
Our plan involves refinancing the property, pulling out increased equity, and sharing our journey through social media to shed light on the struggles many endure in silence.
