Future Farm Fund
Farmer ≠ Land Access
Farmer ≠ Land Ownership
This is something that most don't know and something that I am striving for as a young, black, woman farmer.
I have been farming for the last 4/5 years on other peoples land/farm businesses. I have been dreaming of starting my own farm since the first time I planted basil. As history shows, land access and land ownership have been hard to gain for many reasons - the main ones being farmers not making enough profitability to pay off loans/land taxes & race + discrimination again black folks. This fund is here to help me not only acquire land but also pay for consultations to understand the process of land ownership.
For me land ownership is more than possession of land, it's something that I could leave for my future lineage, its a way to to create safe space outside of the city to connect with Momma Earth, it was a way to bring community together to heal, Its a way to regenerate soils and grow more local food. This would also be an opportunity for me to find a way to give land access back to the original indigenous people of the future land I decide to rest upon.
This would not be MY land - It'd be Ours.
