Oblivion LARP: Drift Gear
Donation protected
As technology climbs to unimaginable heights, society falls into a dark abyss. Our greatest and most innovative creations are doomed to be subverted by our greatest sins. Pride, greed, envy, wrath, lust, sloth, gluttony - they fuel our existence and shape our future world for the wost. Are we beholden to the power these forces have over us or can we break free and fight against the corruption?
First to stand. Last to fall. Hack the world. Enter Oblivion.
What is Oblivion?
Oblivion is a Live Action Role Playing Game (LARP) that is currently undergoing a very large genre-shift. Originally a post apocalyptic game with a multitude of subgenres, we have had a bit of an identity crisis in the oversaturated LARP community of New Jersey. Because of this, we've decided to take a hard look at what we're doing and how we're doing it and we've decided to change direction using an in-game catalyst to support our out-of-game changes!
What is Oblivion Going to Be?
We are reshaping the game to become a Post-Modern, Cyberpunk Live Action Role Playing Game (LARP) set 200 years in the future on a science-fiction-like earth. Combatting threats that are physical, socio-political, and economic, from the interdimensional Drift Servants to corrupt MegaCorps, the world will be ever-expanding its technological prowess, but at the expense of its moral compass.
Players will be part of a group of free agents, living in an area known as the LAG - Latent Anti-drift Geoscapes. This area will have other free agents and various free agencies in them that players can join, particularly the Vanguard and Bluecoat free agencies.
Fight for credits, fight for belief, fight for those you care about, fight for revenge, or fight for yourself. Whatever your goals may be, you can reshape the world in an image of your choosing.

Why GoFundMe?
LARPs are tough to run and operate. It is very costly to do what we need to do while providing in-depth entertainment on a constant basis. There are expensive camp rental fees, liability and business insurance costs, prop and costume costs, transportation and storage costs, taxes, food costs, and more. This doesn't even include anyone on the team making any money for their immense amount of time and effort helping the game run.
While the per event costs help us maintain the status quo of paying for events and most overhead, we are always looking to improve and get more so that we can provide YOU with a better experience. That is why we have turned to GoFundMe!
What is this Campaign For? When Do You Need to be Funded?
This particular campaign is for helping us cover some essential costs as well as vastly changing and improving our props for the game while we undergo our revamp.
We hope to use and unveil many of these props for our Dexcon 19 Signature LARP event and also for our September 2016 Labor Day weekend 4-day relaunch event!
Because of these ambitions, we would love to be fully funded by June 10th, 2016.
What are the Risks?
We have SO MUCH riding on the successful relaunch and rebranding of our game in its Alternate Universe. Not only do we have to keep our current player base happy and positive, we need to shine so we can attract and get an influx of brand new players. On top of that, we need to have some tangible results for people to look at and think "Holy cow, those props and costumes are awesome!"
If we fail to WOW people, shake the confidence of our current player base, or fail to bring in new blood, then everything could be for naught. That's why we NEED you all to support us here and to come out to as many events as possible as often as possible!
We can't do this without the continued love and support from all of our players and we will be extremely grateful for every little bit you can send us!
What Do I Get for Donating?
Please know that no matter what we offer as a reward, we cannot express how thankful we truly are for your help! That being said, we do have various levels of rewards that you can get for helping us out. Our reward structure is also unique in the fact that as long as the campaign is running, you can continue to donate throughout the life of the campaign, and we will count your accumulated donations for your reward levels!
Each time you hit a reward level, you will gain that reward AND all previous rewards! Rewards do not stack with themselves, however, so you cannot continue to donate at the same reward level to continuously gain that reward over and over. Also, some rewards that provide the "same" bonus at any given reward level will stack with other previous rewards, but must reflect the other option not chosen, since some of these rewards have multiple choices.
Initial Goal and Stretch Goals
$750: Pay for game essentials from now until September, including business insurance, trailer storage fees, website fees, etc. Also, create new "baseline" props for the game to replace our damaged tent and coincide with the Cyberpunk feel we are going for, to be unveiled publicly at Dexcon 19!
$1000: Improve upon the quality and number of props for Dexcon 19.
$1250: Get all new masks, makeup, and some baseline costuming and accessories for NPCs at the game!
$1500: Improve the quality of new masks, makeup, costuming, and accessories as well as get more of all of these things for NPCs at the game!
$1750: Create a super awesome, special NPC for our explosive September Labor Day 4-day weekend relaunch!
$2000+: Special projects for awesome equipment, props, and / or costumes as-of-yet to be determined (we'll include the community on the decision-making process!)
