#Cycle4Ukraine
A humanitarian health crisis is unfolding in Ukraine before our eyes, and more than two million people have fled to neighbouring countries, the bulk of whom have travelled to Poland. UK-Med is now in both countries to assess the emergency health needs of the refugees, and they have launched an urgent appeal to raise money to support their surgical teams to work with overwhelmed hospitals. They also hope to raise enough funds to transport a field hospital to provide emergency care of injuries and other significant healthcare needs. The facility - which is the size of a football field - can provide triage, first aid and treatment for minor trauma to over 100 people a day.
To raise money for this to happen, I am going to ride the 1400km 'Ronde van Nederland' route in less than two weeks - a mammoth undertaking for someone who has only ever done an 80km charity bike ride in the past! The days will be long - at least 100km each - and the headwinds in Holland can be brutal...but I had to do something to help the Ukrainian people somehow. I will track my journey with Instagram and Twitter posts using hashtag #cycle4ukraine - feel free to follow me on the trip!
Please help me by donating whatever you can to get emergency healthcare where it is desperately needed. Thank you.
