Wheels for Winston: Cycling for WS Non-profits
Donation protected
Hi there!
We are medical students at Wake Forest School of Medicine cycling across America this summer. Our goal is to raise money for two incredible non-profits in Winston-Salem: City with Dwellings and Hope to Thrive!
City with Dwellings is a Community First Initiative that works to end the crisis of homelessness throughout Forsyth County by connecting volunteers with individuals from a variety of backgrounds. As medical students, we greet each individual with a warm cup of coffee, followed by assisting them with setting up medical appointments with primary care physicians. Additionally, City with Dwellings offers mail service, phone and computer access, and resource connection. More information can be found at: https://www.citywithdwellings.org/
Hope to Thrive inspires hope for individuals, families, and communities to thrive in complete health and well-being. They engage individuals beginning with their own process of understanding, but not without considering the larger context, such as the oppressive systematic barriers imposed in our rural and urban communities. Some of their programs include a weekly wholesome and holistic food pantry, hot meals, Rockin' Seniors, and faith, sex, and sexuality seminars. More information can be found at: https://www.hope2thrive.com/
Regarding the bike tour, Siena will begin in Portland, OR on May 8 and Josh, Lucas, and Campbell will begin in San Francisco, CA on May 15. We will meet in Pueblo, CO and ride the rest of the way together, finishing at Wake Forest School of Medicine. If you want to follow along on Instagram - @sienahw, @chaiter_tot, and @camp_bell
Thank you,
