Cycle For Mayo Hospital Oncology Unit
Donation protected
A Chairde,
In December 2017 I was diagnosed with a blood cancer, Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. I underwent treatment in 2018. I remain in full remission and continue under observation by my Oncologist, Professor John McCaffrey.
In conjunction with my teammates from the 1995 to 1997 era, we are cycling around Mayo, visiting each of the GAA Clubs in the County, between 14-21 August next, to raise funds for the Mayo Hospital Oncology Unit.
Our Cycle for the Mayo Hospital Oncology Unit is acknowledged by the Mayo G.A.A. County Board.
The dates for the cycle are Saturday 14-Saturday 21 August inclusive, as follows:
Sat 14 Aug A.M. Ballaghadereen-Kilmovee-Tooreen-Aghamore-Ballyhaunis-Eastern Gaels 45 km
Sat 14 Aug P.M. Kiltimagh-Swinford-Charlestown-Carracastle 31 km
Sun 15 Aug A.M. Hollymount-Garrymore-Davitts-Claremorris-Mayo Gaels-Balla 35 km

Fri 20 aug A.M. The Neale-Shrule/Glencorrib-Kilmaine-Ballinrobe 28 km
Fri 20 aug P.M. Tourmakeady-Ballintubber-Castlebar-Islandeady 36 km
Sat 21 Aug Burrishoole-Kilmeena-Westport-Louisburgh 50 km
The cycle is being launched on MWR Radio on Sunday 20 June next between 2 and 3 p.m. with Michael D. McAndrew
The Western People, Mayo News, other media outlets and the Connolly Motor Group will be promoting the cycle.
I hope that GAA clubs will participate and it is possible that cycling clubs will get involved too, but mostly I'd like the people of Mayo to support us in raising funds for the oncology unit of Mayo Hospital.

Dermot Flanagan
