Cycling 1300 km for Tuberous Sclerosis
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Jasper and I’m a 23 year old Master student at the University of Utrecht. In October I will be traveling to Austria to do research on tuberous sclerosis in the lab of Juergen Knoblich at the IMBA in Vienna. Early in life, patients with this disease grow tumors in various tissues. In the brain these tumors can cause intellectual disability and epilepsy. I will be using state-of-the art technologies to study how brain tumors arise in tuberous sclerosis and how we might be able to stop this process. I have decided not to go by car, train or plane, but to travel the 1300 kilometers by bicycle and a tent. With this endeavour I hope to raise money for tuberous sclerosis, and in doing so, increase awareness of the disease and ultimately the quality of life for patients. After my journey, all money will be transferred directly to the dutch association for tuberous sclerosis (https://stsn.nl/). Thank you for donating!
