Cycling for the James Macready-Bryan Foundation
Do you want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money in aid of The James Macready-Bryan Foundation and every donation will help. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me. Some of you may recall that I have previously raised funds for this worthwhile cause when participating in the Melbourne Marathon, the last time being in 2018. So it is about time I connected again with this charity using our Gippsland Ouest Classique bike ride as the means.
James Macready-Bryan was the victim of an assault on his 20th birthday causing him to be permanently and totally disabled. Within a year of this tragic event, the JMB Foundation was established to provide financial support for the care and rehabilitation of young sufferers like James with acquired brain injuries and to give a public voice to those young people.
I went to school with James’ father, Andrew, and we played junior cricket together where, for a time, I kept wicket to his left arm thunderbolts.
What happened to James on that fateful night is a parents worst nightmare. Through the establishment of the JMB Foundation, young people with an acquired brain injury now have age appropriate residential options, additional services and therapies, provision of better and more appropriate home care, participation in community activities, equipment and home modifications and advocacy.
