My name is Michaela Thompson. I am 17 years old and I recently got the opportunity to represent team USA at cyclocross World Championships in Dubendorf, Switzerland this upcoming February. I have been focused this past year to have my most successful season of racing which has brought me to finish in second place at cyclocross National Championships!

I’m so grateful to our cycling community and everyone who has helped me along the way, especially BJC and the Boulder High MTB Team!

With these amazing opportunities, there is a lot of preparation needed. I have been invited by team USA to go to Belgium NEXT WEEK to race in the famous Christmas season cyclocross races! These races will prepare me to have my best results for World Championships.

Thank you to USA Cycling and to the MudFund for providing these opportunities and supporting the athletes with housing, uniforms, mechanics, coaching, and encouragement!

Above and beyond this incredible support, my estimated expenses for the two trips is $5,000 for airline tickets, baggage fees, ground transportation, equipment needs, etc. My team, Boulder Junior Cycling, will generously match the first $1,000 in donations.

These two trips are very special because it's the first time in history that junior girls age 17-18 will be given their own races and have the same opportunities as boys. I’m honored to be in this first class of girls to race on the international stage and I hope to represent Team USA and Boulder Junior Cycling (BJC) to the best of my ability.
