Cyclone Seroja - Northampton Community relief
Donation protected
G'day
My name is Flynn Singh Drage, born and raised in Northampton, Western Australia. On Sunday the 11th of April, Tropical Cyclone Seroja ripped through the Midwest region of Western Australia with absolute force, leaving a trail of damage in its path. Whilst many are aware of the significant damage in popular tourist towns, there is minimal coverage of the the smaller towns that were hit and decimated by the cyclone.
The eye of the cyclone passed right over Northampton with over 70% of structures damaged. I am very lucky that my family and friends remain unharmed, however the damage is unreal. Roofs have been ripped off, farming sheds have been completely flattened and sprawled across farms and countless properties and businesses have been damaged (pictures below).
My cousin lost the roof to his house, and waited out the storm in the pantry with his wife and kids. My friends and and family in Northampton have copped extensive damage and while the community is all hands on deck to clean up the mess, we need your help!
Residents and volunteers are in need of fuel and groceries and several other things such as
- generators
- hardware and tools, tools, tools!
- power boards, extension leads, torches, gloves etc
We have help coming from Perth over the weekend bringing up whatever is needed. We would really appreciate financial assistance to contribute towards the much needed items required to sustain residents and volunteers as we rebuild our town.
Any donation, large or small in the next few days would make a difference and would be deeply appreciated. Or if you'd like to physically volunteer and help, there is plenty to do and that would be deeply appreciated too!
Cheers
Flynn
