This year, COVID-19 has taken my life by storm. The money I was expecting to receive from the federal government was decreased by over 90%. I am blessed to have my tuition completely paid for by the remainder of those funds and scholarships, but I sadly am left with nothing in return. I was unable to do on campus housing because I would have had to take out up to $10,000 in loans, so instead I found an apartment near campus. It may sound silly but my goal for myself has always been to graduate debt free. My international roommate since freshman year has taken me under her wing and is allowing me to live in a one-bedroom apartment with her where I will be staying in the living room and contributing whatever I am able to. With that being said, for this year, I am in need of a bed, kitchen and bathroom supplies, food, water, money for electricity, internet, and so much more. I also fear for my last 3-4 months of rent that I am not prepared for, as I am in a 12 month lease. I know that I am in pretty deep with financial burden, but God has always provided for me. I am currently looking for a job on campus to help assist my well-being as well. I have a single mother who although is a powerful survivor who can do all things, lacks the financial stature to help me. Every cent counts. Every dollar counts. I appreciate absolutely anything that you can give. My success counts on my journey at The University of Miami and my fortitude in the world of Broadcast Journalism. My prayer is to be able to do my studies without the constant fear of never having the bare necessities on my back. The support you contribute will fuel me to break the cycle I was unfortunately born into. By blessing me this way I will dedicate my life to blessing many more, just like me.
