Cygnet Fountains Walk 500 Miles for Charity
Staff and service-users at Cygnet Fountains are completing a sponsored walking challenge in order to raise money for the charity Rays of Sunshine. We have set an initial target of walking 500 miles over a period of weeks to raise money for the charity which was chosen by our service-users.
We are hoping this challenge will raise awareness of the importance of getting active to improve both physical and mental well-being for both service-users and staff, as well as the wider community. We will be aiming to increase our typical levels of activity and logging our miles over a number of weeks, finishing off with a final group walk together in May 2021 to achieve our final target!
Cygnet Fountains is an inpatient rehabilitation service for individuals with severe and enduring mental health difficulties. We are currently following the Action for Happiness campaign within our service, which aims to help people take action for a happier and kinder world. The campaign promotes a range of ‘Keys to Happiness’ with different themes each month.
This month’s theme is Active April, which highlights the importance of exercise and getting active for societies health and wellbeing. Therefore the Fountains team decided they wanted to complete a sponsored walking challenge, not only to promote the importance of exercise, but also to take this opportunity to raise money for others in need.
Thank you in advance to anyone who is able to sponsor our walking challenge, support our service-users and staff to reach their target, and to raise money for this wonderful charity which supports and enhances the lives of young people across the UK. Every little helps make a big difference.
If you would like to support our cause, we kindly ask for people to submit any donations anonymously. The charity will still be able to see your name, but it will not be publicly visible on the GoFundMe page.
Wish us luck! Happy Walking Team Fountains!
