My screenplay is a finalist!

Hi friends and family. As some of you know, my feature screenplay, "Memories" was selected as a top ten finalist in the Broad Humor Film Festival. This festival's goal is to provide ongoing support for female filmmakers and screenwriters. Broads who can tickle your funny bone.

The festival is in it's 9th year and takes place in Venice, Ca on September 5, 6 & 7. As a finalist I get a complimentary festival pass but I need money for airfare, hotel, cabs... Airfare is $500 round trip, hotel for 4 or 5 nights (not sure yet) is approx. $700. It's not worth renting a car but I'll need cab fare. I guess I need to eat... So I'm thinking $1600.  

By going to the film festival I have the opportunity to network with filmmakers and possibly...hopefully, agents and/or managers. Also, on Sunday, there will be a table reading of scenes from the top ten screenplays, but you have to attend to have your scene read. 

I do feel awkward asking for people's help, but I'm also less than a year from hitting a milestone birthday which is putting me into a, "I'd better do things while I can" panic.
