Cyndi’s Recovery Fund

On April 29, 2024 our beloved Cyndi Cunneyworth was in a car crash driving to Ucluelet BC. She lost control of the vehicle, drove off an embankment at highway speed and catapulted into trees 15 feet below, in an area of the highway with no cell service. Immediately after the accident she had severe neck pain and was unable to move any of her limbs and was stuck inside the wrecked vehicle. Carey witnessed the crash in his rear view mirror and was able to locate her vehicle, flag vehicles down to go for help, and with the assistance of a loving stranger, Sebastian, free her from the wreck and hold her in a stable position until help arrived. She was airlifted to VGH and quickly underwent a 7 hour surgery to realign her spine with rods and pins. She spent the following days in the Intensive Care Unit intubated and ventilated. As a result of her amazing health prior to the injury, she has been recovering very well considering the extent of her injuries, most notably a C6-C7 translocation injury and spinal cord impingement. At this time, she has impaired nerve innervation below C4, affecting her movement and functioning of all four limbs, bowel and bladder control, core strength and respiratory function. She spent 12 days in ICU before being transferred to G.F. Strong Rehabilitation Center, where she will stay for the next few months.
With each day of healing she is making amazing progress and her determination is beyond inspirational! At this time her prognosis is uncertain and varies depending on the differing perspectives of each medical professional. From a spiritual perspective, it is undeniable that this injury has been divinely orchestrated and that she has been preparing her entire life for this challenge. Now having all the tools and teachings she needs to succeed, we hope there is potential for a full recovery. Medically, she has an incomplete spinal cord injury and is partially paralyzed from the chest down, including her hands.
The process to heal and reconnect the damaged nerves will take many months of arduous work and dedication. Irrespective of the final outcome, Cyndi has a long road ahead to a mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical recovery. In addition to intense physical rehabilitation and deep inner healing, she may require assistive devices, personal healthcare providers, an adapted living environment, and other lifestyle adaptations to support her current condition.
Cyndi is a recently retired teacher and counselor of 34 years, athlete, coach, mother, wife and friend. Her positive attitude and demeanor has supported many individuals to see through their own darkness and pain over the years.
We believe that this current challenge is a blessing of growth that has further reaches than her own family, with the potential to spread a powerful message of hope, positivity, trust and the true power within every one of us as human beings.
If she has touched your life in any way, we ask that you share this go fund me and consider donating to her recovery fund so that she may have access to whatever she needs in order to make a full recovery, and can continue on her path of spreading good things to all beings.
