Cynthia, la maestra, a daughter, sister, cousin and friend. A love for travel, a passion to share her culture and a smile that would light up a room.

At home, she had a way of making everything feel right; epic backyard parties, Christmas celebrations or birthday parties. She had a style that was all her own. Her attention to detail was impeccable and she had a way of making us all feel at home.

Her travel log was far and wide from the pyramids of her Mexico lindo, to the deserts of Egypt, to the vineyards of Italy. She seeked to explore cultures, find the hidden gems and take in the sights whether with loved ones or with friends. She fought fiercely as a teacher for her special education students, English language learners, and student teachers, and used her travels over the summer as a re-charge to come back the following school year.

As a daughter, she loved her parents and was very much a Daddy's girl and shared so many beautiful moments with our Mom always making sure she was ready for the next adventure. As our little sister, she kept up with us at every turn growing up skating around the neighborhood, riding bikes and enjoying the beach. Later, she pushed us beyond our comfort zones insisting on Vegas birthday parties or visiting the home of her love, Elvis, in Graceland.

Cynthia was the perfect blend of all that was good: a connection to her culture, a love for her family, a little bit of new school and a lot of old school. We will miss her spirit, her infectious laugh, those caring eyes and her overwhelming presence. We loved her very much and will keep her in our hearts forever. We are comforted knowing that she is at peace and looking down upon us with our Dad by her side.

To celebrate her life, our family would like to request that anyone who wishes to send gifts or flowers, that instead consider donating to this fundraiser that will support her services and these great causes:

- Immigration Services and DACA fee assistance/ Eradicate injustice (UFW Foundation, Leadership Counsel for Justice and Accountability)

- Support for Hispanic college students (Hispanic Scholarship Fund)

- Theatre and the Arts (El Teatro Campesino, The Frida Cinema)

With love,

Familia Mejia (Maria, Genaro and Adrian)
