My sister, Cynthia Tornquist Has Ovarian Cancer

Donation protected
My sister, Cynthia, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer June 6th, 2018. At this moment as I write this, we are at the University Of Kansas Medical Center, where Cynth has had her second thoracentesis within the last two weeks. Twelve hundred milliliters were drained from the pleural space between the lining and the left lung this time. Please, we need your financial help by donating what little you can so she and I can remain living in our home for the duration of time she has left. The prognosis for someone with stage IV ovarian cancer is approximately sixteen months from when the chemo treatment has ceased due to it having no effect on the cancer. She has been through a lot these past couple of years. When finally diagnosed, after she went to the emergency room for having lost so much blood and needing a transfusion, a CT scan was ordered which showed ovarian cancer that had metastasized. She was immediately admitted to the hospital to have a six hour hysterectomy and surgery to remove as much cancer surrounding her major organs as possible. The cancer has and continues to attack her liver, lymph nodes, rectum, and pretty much the entire abdominal area.  We’ve been told the cancer is incurable. Her odds of living to see 2021 are against her.   I just want to be able to keep a roof over my sisters head, be able to pay for the utilities until the inevitable passing of my sister.  Then, I can either rent or sell the house. Time is not on our side. I am advertising for a roommate and looking for a better paying job. No luck yet. The medical bills are coming in. We’re both working. However, every day that passes, my sister is getting sicker and soon will be too sick to work. I completely understand how one chapter of your life can be so successful and instantly in the next chapter your life is crumbling.  I totally understand how in what seems like a blink of an eye, a family can become homeless. I tried getting my home refinanced and to get an equity loan. That would have solved everything but I was denied even with a great credit score and having never been late or missing a payment. I am working as much as I can, but she is getting so sick, I need to be with her to help her. It’s not time for hospice but it is time that help is needed. I can’t not work and I can’t not be with my sister. Please know that any little bit of financial help is hugely appreciated. If the financial goal is reached, it gives us a few months in the house and pay medical bills. I would also be able to cut back on some work hours so I can spend more time with her. I’ll just have to sell or rent the house early spring. But until then, I need to help my sister with getting her to and from her doctor appointments, help her dress, and tend to her needs that are requiring more of me to be home . Thank you !
