CYPRESS GARCIA & VICTIMS OF GUN VIOLENCE

Hello,

We are Victoria Lopez, Cyress Garcia's girlfriend, and Crystal Lopez, Victoria's mom. Cypress was a big part of our lives for the past 7+ years.

It has been 12+ grief-filled months for the family and friends of Cypress Garcia. Cypress was murdered at Espanola Lotaburger on August 16, 2022 by alleged serial armed robber, Ricky Martinez. To date the city of Espanola has failed to reach out to the Garcia family to offer condolences, support or acknowledgment of any kind. To date, Martinez has not been charged with the murder of Cypress or the assault on his little brother and coworker, Cyress Garcia.

Presently, we are questioning the lack of initiative regarding some type of memorial for Cypress by the Lotaburger corporation, the city of Espanola, or any other relative local entity. Cyress Garcia should also be recognized for stopping Martinez before anyone else could be harmed. Cyress lost his big brother, his 5+ years of employment, his livelihood, and his sense of security in our community that night. The crew of young men and women who witnessed this tragedy and must live with the traumatic memory, should also be acknowledged.

The Garcia family is currently working to develop a memorial for Cypress, and other victims of gun violence. Our goal is to place a memorial bench and an arbor in a blessed area of the EHFO garden, graciously donated by Tewa Women United.

Tewa Women United is hosting an End Gun Violence Awareness event on 09/30/2023 that will include free food, entertainment, and memorial rock paintings to be placed in the memorial garden area.

We will be taking donations on that day that will be applied to the memorial bench and arbor.

We are asking for donations, sponsors, and any type of assistance that will allow this to proceed and succeed. This project will require materials/artist for the memorial bench, an arbor and various native plants, etc.

We invite Lotaburger, the city of Espanola, and any other interested parties to sponsor or donate to this memorial. We propose the newly remodeled eatery, with its brand new long-overdue drive-through, be dedicated to Cypress’s memory. His final moments of life were there, in the arms of his little brother, and coworker Cyress Garcia, and witnessed by his coworkers and others present.
