House Fire

Hi, my name is Amanda and I am the sister of Jami Donaldson. In the early morning hours of 09/15/23, my sister's family home caught fire. It appears to have started in one of my nieces' bedrooms - the cause is currently unknown. This family of 6 is currently displaced and will be staying in a hotel for an undetermined amount of time. Additionally, as a result of this fire, this family lost 5 of their beloved animals three dogs and two cats. They did not have time to grab much of anything when evacuating their home and do not have clothing, shoes, school supplies, food for their living animals, or medications, among other things. Homeowners insurance is helping them with housing and the Red Cross in the area has already met with them. In the coming months, they are going to have to replace everything for a home - beds, tables, electronics for homework, etc.

They just finished a remodel of their home's main floor. After being taken advantage of by a poor contractor and being scammed out of thousands of dollars, which is still an ongoing legal process. Any donations to this GoFundMe will be given directly to Jami and Terry to start getting them back on their feet after such an unimaginable loss.

Jami had been a teacher in the Lyle Public School system for many years and, just this year, moved to a new role in the Albert Lea School System. She is currently in graduate school working on her principal's license. Terry is hard-working and works 10-hour days in Owatonna. Three of the four kids are currently in middle/high school, the other is working full-time at the local caribou as a manager.
