Support for Tara
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Heather, and I am raising money for my long time, high school friend Tara and the associated costs of her Ameloblastoma surgery.
Unfortunately, Tara is no stranger to hard times. Losing her dad when she was young child and her mum as a young adult her friends are her family, and we are rallying together in hope that with community support we can look back at this hard and challenging time as just a small bump in the road.
For anyone who knows Tara knows she is always full of grit and determination and always been “the strong one”, and never been one to ask for help. But together with your help we are hoping to ease the burden and stress that comes with the journey she is about to embark on.
Tara has been diagnosed with Ameloblastoma, a rare and aggressive benign tumor that causes damage to the jaw and teeth. The tumour never stops growing so surgery to remove the whole lower left section of the jawbone (replaced by her fibular bone) is the most effective way to prevent further damage. This requires a complex surgery which is approximately 8/9 hours long and will result in Tara losing 7 teeth on the bottom jaw that will need to be replaced with teeth implants post-surgery.
And we ask for this support with a sense of urgency as surgery has now been schedule for end October (in one months’ time).
Tara is a loving and devoted single mum of 3 beautiful children, including a special high needs son who has a rare chromosome disorder and as a casual worker with no annual leave entitlements will need to take 6 weeks of unpaid leave from her dedicated and important work as a mental health and disability support carer.
This GoFundMe campaign aims to provide the funds to support Tara with the cost of the surgery and specifically will cover the cost of replacing 7 teeth with implants/prothesis which out of pocket costs are $15,000 alone, plus cover cost of living due to being off work.
Even the smallest donation can make the world of difference and ease the pressures with Tara’s surgery. More so, sharing Tara’s story with your friends, family, and social networks can help amplify our support for our darling friend.
Thank you for your care, compassion, generosity and the support during this time. Together I hope we can make this time a little easier for Tara and get her back on her feet in no time.
With Gratitude,
Heather
