Help us rebuild our home & our life here in GAZA, Palestine

Assalamualaikum - Peace be upon you.

My name is Abdel Rahman Hilmi and I am from Gaza, Palestine.

I am married and have two children; my son Anas - two years old and my baby girl, Maryam - 5 months old. Before October 7th, I was studying my Masters in Tafseer at the Islamic University of Gaza and I worked as a Qur'an teacher at Dar-Al-Qur'an.

The war came and destroyed my university and house. I was forced after that to flee from place to place with my entire family; parents, siblings, wife, children, nieces and nephews. We have lost some of our family, and some of our family are still stuck in the North with no food or supplies.

My family and I have been stripped of every basic human right imaginable but despite the unrelenting bombardment and devastation, we have embodied resilience and strength in the face of these hardships. We are suffering from hunger, no clean water, no electricity, limited internet, and insufficient medical care since the beginning of October. We have witnessed destruction and death all around us, heard the constant explosions of bombs day and night, and been exposed to white phosphorus dropped down on us. That is besides the emotional and psychological toll from which we suffer from as well. We have watched our dreams, our health, our futures, and our lives wither away, not knowing which moment will be our last.

All praise is to Allah for our situation. We are attached to this holy land and we love it, but we must resolve ourselves and rebuild what we can of what the occupation destroyed. We want to travel for a year or two so that I may complete my studies and find a job and return to help rebuild our house here in Gaza for my entire family and I.
