Thank you for vising my page, I appreciate your support!
TJ Hernandez, an officer with the Austin ISD Police Department, son, brother and most of all great friend is in need of your support. In October 2018, TJ had a pain in his heel that made it difficult to walk. After a trip to the emergency room TJ was diagnosed with osteomyelitis, an infection of the bone. TJ had surgery in November, but the extreme discomfort and feeling of sickness did not go away. Earlier this year TJ made the difficult decision to go through with amputation. In the past month, he has been recovering and going to rehabilitation, and is very eager to get back to work.
As you can imagine going from full time employment to having to adapt to the amputation of your foot comes with many complications, physically and financially. The money raised will help TJ with the expenses that he has incurred such as updating his living arrangements to accommodate a wheelchair, travel expenses to and from rehab, rent and other miscellaneous bills. TJ has amassed hefty medical expense over the last year and is currently working through his insurance company but is only receiving a partial salary until he can get back to work.
In TJ’s own words: “I worked too hard and too long to get where I am in my career to have this be the end. I have made it clear to my command staff this will not be a career ender, I am going to get up after falling down and come back to work”. TJ has a great attitude and positive outlook on the future but could certainly use any help he receives.
Again, from TJ, his family and all of his friends thank you for listening and sharing TJs story!
