Bring Kane Home
Donation protected
Hello friends! We are raising money for Jaime DiGiovanni, the owner of a sweet ginger cat named Kane. Kane was a long time resident of Saratoga Springs where he was loved by many, including the staff of Spring Street Deli and Pizzeria who would feed him and allow him to lounge on the chairs of the restaurant and greet the customers (as seen in the photo). Because of that, Kane loved going there, having lived only 3 houses down. On the night of January 4, the deli’s owner, Anthony Gargano, allegedly picked him up and drove him to Saratoga County Animal Shelter after hours when they were closed, and left him outside their door unsecured, in 20 degree temperature before driving away. Luckily this was caught on camera, and Kane was seen wandering around scared and then running into the woods nearby. He has not been seen since.
Kane’s family is devastated, especially as Kane was adopted for Jamie’s teenage son by his late father. She and a number of volunteers have been searching for Kane in the vicinity of the shelter and surrounding woods and neighborhoods. We are worried about him being in an unfamiliar environment in the freezing rain and cold, with wildlife and feral cats nearby who may want to fight him if he seeks shelter in their territory. We are worried he may have, or will try to jump into a dumpster at the recycling facility next to the shelter, in search for food, and end up crushed. We don’t want to think of these worst case scenarios, we just want to bring Kane home to his family and we won’t give up hope. If you can donate any amount, this will be put toward a reward for Kane’s safe return or if we can get Josh Grassi of Clifton Park Pet Search involved, we can offer him compensation for his time. We are also looking into possibly getting drones or thermal equipment or even search dogs if this is an option to help locate poor Kane. Thank you for all your support in this unjust situation
