Abby's Volunteering Quest in Madagascar, 2024

Hi! My name is Abby. This summer I'll be going to Madagascar as one of the Operation Wallacea team and I'm doing some fundraising for the trip. I'll be partaking in different research projects that will help protect the unique plant and animal life on the island. These projects will range from the conservation of coral reefs, to the safeguarding of Sifaka lemurs.

My research will be of the utmost importance, as Madagascar is home to an array of different animals that can’t be found anywhere else in the world. Currently, less than five percent of the island is designated to nature reserves, national parks or wildlife reserves, leaving these species at risk of habitat loss. My work will help ensure that the beautiful coral reefs and amazing animals of the island will thrive safely for years to come.
