Vazaha Miteny Gasy
Donation protected
Deadline: April 25
Hey everybody!
As many of you already know, we, Payton Hansen and Austin Bergera, have started a page called Vazaha Miteny Gasy (Foreigners Speaking Malagasy). Since we started the page in November 2015, we have attracted over 26,000 followers to our page, as well as created videos with over 100,000 views.
Our main goal in creating these videos is to help cultivate more positivity and moral thinking within the Malagasy culture. We are also focusing strongly on empowering the Malagasy people to have more self-confidence and love to be able to stand up for themselves and create big changes for their country! We believe that media greatly influences culture, and that through the teaching of values on a large scale we can instill a beneficial change within it.
One large advantage we have in reaching our goal is the wide-ranging versatility portrayed on our page and in our videos. We have enough cultural experience in both Madagascar and the States to efficiently create videos that appeal to Malagasies of all ages, particularly the youth. Using current styles and trends, we specifically connect the Malagasy youth. By relating the values taught in our videos to their own life, they conscientiously correlate integrity and a higher level of morality with something that is "cool." We believe the world needs more of this.
Our videos have been broadcast on several of the biggest media organizations in Madagascar, including Dream'in , a well known Malagasy television station. We hope to travel to Madagascar from April/May through July/August, meeting with these local media organizations and creating a platform on a larger scale. We already have a contract in progress with Dream'in to record weekly videos geared toward the Malagasy youth.
We also have several significant connections with local producers and event planners with whom we are currently discussing the organization of several large events around Madagascar. At these events, we will be doing sketches as well as speaking to the Malagasy people to further communicate our message of integrity and empowerment! We will also be featuring several up-and-coming artists/entertainers to provide them with exposure and opportunity. All proceeds will go towards these young artists and back into furthering our plans.
For those who donate, and anyone else interested, we will be posting weekly updates while in Madagascar on our blog (URL to come) and our Instagram to keep you updated on the difference we are making! Insta: @vazaha_miteny_gasy
How the money will be used:
-Roughly $2,300 per person for flights - x2 = $4,600
-$300 for room/board and travel throughout the capitol; Antananarivo.
STRETCH GOALS:
If we reach $6,000:
-We will be able to visit the cities of Mahajanga, Antsirabe and Toamasina to deepen our relationships and further spread our message.
-We will hire a local videographer that would largely improve the quality of our video production. This is also a great opportunity to provide local Malagasies with employment and experience.
If we reach $7,000:
-We will be able to visit all above cities, as well as Toliara, Fort Dauphin and Antsiranana.
-In addition to a videographer, we will hire a local video editor that will bring a much higher quality of editing to our videos.
Any and all donations helping us in this are appreciated!

Due to GoFundMe fees, if you'd like for your entire donation to be used for the cause, we do accept donations through Venmo or personal checks.
