To Walk Again

As many of you may know, on Nov 28, 2022, Damian was involved in a terrible motorcycle accident on "Spanish Town Rd". While Damian was riding to 6 Mile, a van that was parked on the side of the street drove out on him causing him to crash into the side of the van. This threw Damian off of his motorcycle into the street he immediately knew something was wrong when he couldn’t feel his hand and his leg. The driver of the van rushed Damian to the Kingston Public Hospital but left without leaving any information to be contacted. Once Damian was left at the hospital, he had to undergo emergency surgery for the injuries he incurred at the scene of the accident. He suffered a broken hand/wrist, fingers, hip and foot. After the surgery and while still in the hospital, Damian told the caregivers that he was unable to feel anything from his waist down, but they neglected to adhere to his concerns and continued to give him medication for pain management. A few days later they sent him home although he was still complaining about not being able to have feeling in his leg. They still released him and sent him home on bed rest after 3 weeks being in the hospital and told him he would get better. When Damian got home, he realized his injuries were more severe than the hospital made it seem. His leg was swollen and started to change color. He went back to the KPH and they dressed his foot and recommended he go to Spanish Town Health Center for additional dressing. When he went there he had to be admitted and they found that the blood in his foot was not circulating properly, which caused him to lose motor function and feeling from the waist down. Once assessed the doctors found that he only had a 20/80 chance of losing his leg. Unfortunately, the leg could not be saved and had to be amputated.
Damian and his family are truly grateful that he survived this accident, but have been suffering financially to keep up with his medical expenses as well as providing for his children. Before the accident, Damian worked with China Harbor and also raised animals to provide for his family. Since this accident, Damian has not been able to do much on his own. It has been really hard for him to keep up. Although it is hard to ask, Damian is asking for HELP! It would be of great pleasure to get Help with medical expenses and to retain a prosthetic leg at Surgix Jamaica Limited so he can go back to work to provide for his family. Please Help! Thank you in advance for all your help and understanding of the need.

Best,
Damian Reid.
