Fight for Nico

On Friday, September 30, Nico Garavito was tragically hit while riding his motorcycle by a reckless driver who ran a stop sign coming off of the highway near Nico's home in Minneapolis. The vehicle's driver fled the scene, but fortunately, Nico was not alone and his companions called for help, and he was immediately transported to a nearby hospital. Nico suffered severe injuries to the skull, brain, face, eye, hips, leg and arm and has already undergone multiple surgeries.

Nico remains in critical condition, and it is too early to know the extent of his brain injuries, but we know that he is a fighter and the doctors are cautiously optimistic. Despite the extreme circumstances of his trauma, he has been able to move his arms and legs, which we believe to be a positive sign. It was also initially thought that one of his legs may need to be amputated, but doctors have been working to set the main bones in his leg that were broken and it appears that blood is still flowing to his toes and he will be able to keep his leg.

During this extremely difficult time, we ask for your support and prayers as we put Nico's care in God's hands. Currently, he is in critical condition and under intensive care. We pray that the angels will keep their eyes on Nico, and that he will fight through this. But even so, his injuries will require a multitude of follow-up surgeries, followed by a long rehabilitation and recovery process. We do not know how long Nico will be hospitalized, so we humbly ask our community to support Nico and his family during this absolutely devastating time.

Any contribution you can make will help lessen the financial hardship of the Garavito family and is greatly appreciated. All donations will help cover a growing hospital bill, medications, follow-up treatments, and the long rehabilitation process that, God-willing, Nico will hopefully have the opportunity to undergo.
