While away at physics and astronomy summer camp, Kyle (13 years old) had a terrible accident. He was rushed to the hospital with a lot of internal damage. He ruptured his colon, appendix and stomach. He fractured his 4th and 5th lumbar and shredded his right psoas muscle. To date, he has had 5 surgical procedures to repair the internal damage. The doctors have estimated that he has 6 to 8 weeks before his internal organs heal. After the internal organs have healed, Kyle will likely have to undergo back surgery to repair his two fractured vertebrae. Because of the damage done to his psoas muscle, Kyle may have a difficult time maneuvering his right leg.
Kyle is an exceptional young man. He is well rounded, intelligent, athletic, funny, and personable. He loves the Lord and is unashamed of the Gospel. He is a leader among his peers. Kyle is a caring person who is always concerned for the well-being of others. He loves to serve in ministry and explore all that God is doing in him. He is humble, gentle, and responsible. Kyle is the type of student that every director wants to have in their ministry.
We are raising money to help pay for Kyle's medical bills and continued care. Once released from the trauma unit, the doctors will focus on repairing Kyle's spine and getting him up and moving again. Kyle has a long road ahead of him. He will need a lot of emotional and physical support in the upcoming months. We would like for his family to concentrate on getting Kyle better and not be overwhelmed financially. We are starting this "Go Fund Me" campaign to give the family a $10,000.00 head start towards covering the cost of getting Kyle back on his feet again.
