Please help support my family

Hi everyone- my name is Tommi Ann Raines. It has taken me nearly 3 weeks to swallow my pride and gather the courage to reach out on behalf of my family but after all that’s happened I’ve come to realize I will do absolutely anything for them. On Tuesday, Feb 8th my childhood home was lost to an electrical fire. It started at 4:30am while everyone was asleep. It’s nothing short of a miracle that I happened to notice a thin plume of smoke drifting out of an overhead light fixture in the kitchen- as I was walking out the door. The fire was already burning two floors above and with my mother and my brother both on oxygen there were more than a dozen tanks in the living room. My mother, my brother and my 12 yr old son were all asleep upstairs but I managed to wake everyone up and we got out with our lives which I’m grateful for beyond words. The house and much of what was in it is destroyed. Many of the things lost were irreplaceable like my brother’s medals and awards from Desert Storm and his time in the Corps. He himself lost everything but what he was wearing. Now the struggle to pick up the pieces has begun and I honestly don’t know what is going to happen. I got the idea for the go fund me from a few friends but considering it is totally different from actually doing it. I have found a different excuse to put it off every day but it can’t be avoided any longer as everyone is in limbo now with very limited resources. With all of this being said I’m hoping that people can find it in their hearts to assist with any amount they can. Anything at all will honestly help. I thank you all with everything I’ve got- even for just reading this. I also want to thank every single person who ever hung out at “The Squirrel Cage”- that beautiful, wonderful old house. Thank you for your constant presence over these long years and thank you for helping us to make so many incredible memories there. It was the happiest home that any kids could ever hope to be raised in. Thank you especially mom, for securing that house for us against all odds and making it a place I wouldn’t trade for any other house in the world. I’m so sorry mom.
