Cathy, a journey of love and healing

Hi, can we please get help for a mom, sister, daughter, aunt and wife ♥️
Our Journey Til This Point
Thanksgiving 2018, Cathy Emmons (nee Voce), was diagnosed with breast cancer. This was an extremely terrifying thing to find out, especially for Cathy who has had debilitating anxiety and hypochondria pertaining to health issues, particularly cancer, for her entire adult life. Once the medical oncologists completed the diagnosis, they told her husband Rob everything she had to do to get cured, so they did everything exactly as recommended by the medical team. She had her surgery to remove the lump, she did 4 months of painful chemo and she WAS getting better, all that was left to be cured was a short round of radiation and everything would be perfect (we prayed, hoped and believed).
About a week after Cathy finished chemo, she developed a high persistent fever, the protocol for fevers when on chemo, is to get to hospital/emergency if the fever did not lower in a short amount of time, so Rob took her to emerg. The doctors suspected she had an infection and put her on a special intravenous antibiotic for chemo patients. They also did a chest x-ray to ensure that she did not have pneumonia, no pneumonia but the x-ray showed a few nodules in Cathy’s lungs, she was admitted and kept at the hospital overnight in an effort to continue the antibiotics and also to do a CT scan the next day on her chest to ensure the lung nodules were not a concern. Rob stayed at the hospital with Cathy that night, coincidentally a few of Cathy’s sisters, nieces and nephews were in town this weekend for a visit (Victoria Day long weekend, how ironic), so when Cathy and Rob were at the hospital, Victoria (their daughter) wasn’t alone. The next day when all went to see Mom in the hospital, all the news sounded very optimistic, only issue being get the fever under control and Cathy would be good to go. Most of Saturday was spent in and out of Cathy’s room, later that night everyone went home, Rob stayed with Cathy and looked forward to the next day with full belief all would be good as Cathy just finished 4 months of chemo, how could anything serious still be going on, this was just precaution only, no scary concerns. Next day, Sunday, Cathy’s chest CT scan was scheduled for late morning, visiting family and Victoria went back to the hospital early afternoon, walking in at the exact time the doctor was giving Cathy and Rob devastating news, the cancer had spread to her lungs, we were all shattered, especially Cathy who had just been through so much.
Several days later Cathy, Rob, and Cathy’s sister Carmelina, went to an oncologist appointment to find out what the next steps would be, when at this appointment it was stated that Cathy’s cancer, which was now categorized as metastatic breast cancer was treatable but no longer curable, with her ever present anxiety regarding medical health, this meant one thing to Cathy, she would die young, totally devastated her hope was crushed. Rob knew that Cathy and everyone needed something to believe in, some nurturing, some real hope, over the next week a plan was created that would lead this journey to a place where mind, body and soul were all being addressed. Cathy continued to follow all recommended medical tests and treatments from the medical team, additionally she had a consultation with Naturopathic Dr. Kim Oxbro at Nova Health (amazing person, amazing team), Dr. Kim had strong and confident recommendations, ranging from a complete diet change to including several plant based medicine treatments, when Rob asked Dr. Kim how long Cathy would be doing these treatments, her response was “until the cancer was gone”; that sealed the decision, Mom would do all treatments Dr. Kim recommended, significant out of pocket expenses but how could we not try everything possible, no matter the cost. Cathy also started receiving invaluable support from several spiritual teachers/guides.
Six weeks after beginning this holistic approach, Cathy’s blood test markers indicated that the cancer cell growth was no longer happening, this was an incredibly positive sign, it reinforced that the full regiment of treatments and diet should be continued. 3 months after the metastatic lung cancer diagnosis, Cathy had a CT scan that showed the 2 cancer nodules in her lungs had decreased in size by 25%, amazing news that gave very clear proof that this circle of treatment was extraordinarily effective. The reaction from the full support circle, medical, naturopathic and spiritual was “keep doing what you are doing”, so this is what we continued to do.
Moving Forward
Financially, we have exhausted all personal resources available including all savings and available credit, Rob was forced to take a leave of absence from work in April as he has health issues of his own as well as the caregiver support required for Cathy’s well being was very demanding. At Cathy’s current rate of healing it is hoped and believed she will be cancer free one year from now. With the current financial position and the full circle of treatments, it will require approximately $250,000 for the next year of this journey, with your help, kindness and support, we believe Cathy can get 100% healed!
Additionally we wish to share as much knowledge as possible with others that are on their own journeys, far too many people lose hope because they do not have the opportunity to see the full circle of healing, we are so grateful to be on this incredible healing path, if knowledge from our journey can help save one more soul, we will be honoured to help in any way we can.
