Brians continued Burn Recovery

Donation protected
Hello ,I would like to thank you for taking the time to read and follow my family's road to recovery. I would like to introduce my son Brian  Adams , He is 16 yrs old now this horrific incident happened to him when he was 13. Brian has had over 200 surgical procedures to date Brian continues to Push forward in life. Brian refuses to give up hope and refuses to allow this horrific event to set him back in life. Brian suffers from burns on 93% of his body and 85 percent of the burns are 3rd degree burns. Brians airway is severely damaged because of the scarring on the inside of his airway and the upper airway portion is only open .2cm. Brian has to undergo a very life threatening surgery to have his airway repaired. Brian remains scared to death about having this procedure in Michigan, The insurance we have will not cover the out of state procedures to Repair his airway, Brian has been underneath the care of the Ent who helped save his life since 5 17 17 , My son does not meet the special requirements clause to have the procedure paid for out of state because they say it can be done within the net work, well my biggest issue here is when the explosion happened not one Hospital in Michigan was willing to help my son survive the horrific event. They advised me his chance of survival was less then 5% and that U of M didn't have adequate staff or space to take the case, Children's hospital in Detroit declined his case on that day as well, I have never prayed harder in my life, a hour into making him comfortable the call came in from the Shriners in Boston Massachusetts's that they would take the case, that miracle I just spoke on is a qualifying condition for out of state care to be covered. the continuity of care should be factored in as well as the emotional distress this puts on a very young child to face this procedure with uncertainty and lack of trust in the hospital now willing to do the procedure. Brian is a miracle, Brian is walking and talking proof god is real and works miracles statistics don't determine. I am a full time single father of 2 wonderful boys and I cant do this alone. I am asking for  everyone  to help me maintain and be able to move forward in life and be able to get Brian the best care possible. Since this fire Brian has lost everything a normal child his age is able to do. Brian was big into sports He was on the Football Team, basketball team, track team and wrestling team. Brian dreamed of getting a college scholarship in one of the sports he played in school. Brian is motivated to succeed in life, Even with all of the negative that clouds his story he continues to motivate me to figure things out by his desire not to fail or give up. brian continues to have multiple burn surgery's and continues to strive to complete his educational goals Brian has a 3.8 gpa and is in Honors World History and honors math as well. Brian struggles day to day with how people perceive his appearance because of the scars from the burns. you would think that would stop him, well no it don't stop him but does effect in from time to time, but when comes time for his little brothers football game he up dressed and ready he volunteers his time as a team assistant He loves being part of the team and it may not be him on the field but he's right there encouraging discouraged players, helping the players during timeouts Brian has a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone anytime. this is my son, A walking talking miracle. my sons surgery schedule will last for several more years, I am unable to work because of the complications with his airway and until we have the airway reconstruction surgery and the trachea is removed I am  not allowed to work because im the only one who's able and trachea trained and certified. The state will not pay for anything related to in home care so I would be able to work and the price is outside of the childcare assistance the state would be willing to pay for so there are no resources that we are aware of to help.   if you are able to help in anyway it would be greatly appreciated ty for taking the time to read. please share Brians story and please join us on the  Recovery4brian group we created on facebook. Please feel free to contact us by email as well at [email redacted]
