Support Our Costume Professionals!

CAFTCAD (Canadian Alliance of Film and Television Costume Arts and Design) is a self-funded not-for-profit organization that financially survives on sponsorship funds, membership fees, and our ticketed programming. While our industry is still in the midst of recovering from the double strikes of the WGA (Writers Guild of America) and SAG/AFTRA (Screen Actors Guild/American Federation of Television and Radio Artists) in 2023, CAFTCAD still finds itself facing a very real financial challenge. Many of our members, the talented and creative professionals who bring you the costumes you come to admire on the big and small screen, have been experiencing this same challenge. This is why they need CAFTCAD, a place where they can strengthen their connections with their peers, now more than ever.

In addition, many of our loyal and generous sponsors have also felt the financial impact of the last year and have had to reconsider supporting CAFTCAD until their businesses recover.

As a result of all of this, combined with the aftershocks of the COVID-19 pandemic, CAFTCAD is finding it increasingly difficult to find the necessary funding it relies on to operate.

CAFTCAD remains devoted to offering learning opportunities for our membership and the greater costume community, outreach to post-secondary schools to excite and inform future generations about our craft, hosting networking events in Toronto and Vancouver, and collaborating on fundraisers and panels with other industry partners.

In order to continue to provide these initiatives, CAFTCAD is doing all it can to ask its ever-supportive community for a lifeline. Without sufficient funding, we will have to cut back on our services.

In addition to CAFTCAD’s other fundraising efforts, we were thankful to reach over $7,500 through our first phase of our campaign, which provided us with the funds necessary to operate to the end of 2023. While we are immensely grateful and proud of these achievements, we are not yet at the fundraising goal we need to achieve financial stability.

If you’ve ever turned on your television screen, watched a film in a cinema, opened up your phone, or looked at an ad, you have seen the work of a costume professional. This is your opportunity to help support our community.

Your donation, no matter the size, will help CAFTCAD continue to be a community for the costume professionals, artists, and creators that help make Canada’s film industry what it is.
