Dick and Diane Nichols Creek Fire Relief
I am starting this fundraiser for Dick and Diane Nichols to help this remarkable couple that has been plagued with tragedy. They have lost their home, FOR THE SECOND TIME (Yes, I said second time and in the same location) a result of the devastating Creek Fire that ravaged the Pine Ridge and surrounding communities.
Dick and Diane moved to the Granite Ridge in Shaver in 2002 after tragically losing their son, Steven, in a car accident. Steven's love for the mountains fueled their decision to make the mountains their home.
After retiring from the CHP after nearly 30 years (mostly in the Fresno area) , Dick quickly became part of the Pine Ridge Community and was elected to the Pine Ridge School Board. Dick also has been the owner of Dick’s Fishing Charters in Shaver Lake for a numbers of years and is well known for his ability to help anyone catch a fish. Diane also found her place in the community by becoming an active volunteer at Pine Ridge School . Their youngest daughter, Erin, is a beloved teacher and has taught for many years at Pine Ridge School in nearly every grade. Stacee, the couple's oldest daughter, lives on the east coast, is a therapist and is active in the Catholic Church . This family has served the community for many years and continues to do so.
The Nichols family moved to their current location in 2016 only to encounter another tragedy-the loss of their home due to a chimney fire. The family picked up the broken pieces to start anew. Their home was rebuilt and finished in late 2018. Now, less than 2 years later, they find themselves in the same situation; having to rebuild, but this time with no coverage for any belongings inside their home.
This fundraiser is NOT being set up at the request of Dick and Diane, but as a surprise as they feel grateful to have insurance to rebuild their home. The Nichols are an amazing couple who will need financial help filling their home for the second time after losing everything, yet again.
Please consider giving to this amazing couple who has already given so much to our community!
(I am Lindsey Flanigan and I have been lucky enough to have known the Nichols Family since 2009 through various connections.)
