Help the Fleming family
Hi my name is Erika and I've set up this fund to help a local farming family who needs some help to get through a tough time. The Fleming family - Gosia and Justin are very well known as the hard working duo of Fleming Berries. They have a berry farm in Korumburra, Victoria and they take their delicious berries, jams, sauces, waffles, icypoles and fruit icecream to markets and festivals throughout Victoria. They grow and pick all the fruit themselves on their family farm.
Unfortunately Justin has recently been diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer that requires treatment immediately in the form of chemo, radiation and immunotherapy in an attempt to shrink a tumour so it can be operable. He is looking at months of treatment, then surgery and obviously he will be significantly debilitated during this time.
As we head into Spring, the Flemings head into the busiest time of the year. Their workload to keep their farm in order and then to pick and pack all the fruit and attend markets to sell all their fruit is huge. Not to mention all the other things that need to be done - like making jams and sauces to make sure no fruit is wasted. I'm worried that, with Justin out of action, they won't be able to keep up or that he will feel like he has to continue to work and risk his chance at recovery.
They are a very kind and generous family who quietly help others in the community. I would love to see if we can give back to them during this incredibly stressful period in their lives so that they can hire help to replace the workload that Justin carries and allow him the time to fight this battle.
