In memory of Donna Cameron (Lowrie)
Donation protected
Here we go then folks.
In memory of my sister
Donna was full of excitement and pride at her nephew Robbie being braw lad and would’ve loved following him around the border festivals.
Tragically two weeks before the summer rideouts began Donna and her family were involved in a car accident. On June the 4th Donna lost her fight.
With all common ridings cancelled this year I’d thought I’d run a 10k on the day the main rideout should’ve been on for example Hawick on June 5th Selkirk June 12th and so on. Raising money for each towns common riding. Even though no events will be on this year all committees and gatherings will still have costs to cover its not only the ride outs that are cancelled all the fundraising events are cancelled aswell. “Common ridings are a massive part of each towns history something that brings all the towns folk together we really do need to support them when we can”
I’ve set up a go fund me page so if you would like to sponsor/donate simply click on the link leave a comment on which town you’d like your donation to go towards. (For example Joe bloggs £10 Peebles)that donation will go to the Beltane committee. We think this is the best way to do it.
If for what ever reason you don’t agree or are not a common ridings person any donation made without a towns name we’ll donate it to ward 15 at the BGH this ward has been fantastic to us over the last 7 years with Jorjas blood disorder. Although Jorja doesn’t need transfusions anymore (fingers crossed) the work the staff did over the 7 years was incredible so much so she actually looked forward to going to hospital.
All donations will be made in memory of Donna Cameron
Routes etc are still unclear at the moment as I’d rather take in as many of the common ridings history landmarks as possible but sticking mainly to the roads so we don’t have to involve crossing fields that may have livestock in them.
Lockdown rules will apply so Hawick Selkirk melrose Peebles will be ok in phase one hopefully by the time Musselburgh duns Coldstream etc comes round I’ll be allowed to travel that bit further. Below are a list of the towns I’ll be running( all rideouts last years braw lad completed)
Hawick
Selkirk
Melrose
Peebles
Gala
Jedburgh
Duns
Innerleithen (no ride out but donnas hometown)
Kelso
Musselburgh
Lauder
Coldstream
