Help Kerry Fight Cancer!

Life can be flipped upside down in an instant, and for our beloved Kerry, that moment came when she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colorectal Cancer in February 2025. At just aged 28, she was given the devastating news that she has 2-3 years to live. A reality none of us were prepared for.

Kerry is a loving wife, mother, sister and friend, a source of strength for everyone around her. She met Jamie, her husband in July 2016 and went on to get married in their hometown of Louth, Lincolnshire six years later. Kerry and Jamie enjoyed their honeymoon in Italy as newlyweds later to find out they had conceived their beautiful baby daughter Evelyn. Life for them was full of joy and it felt like nothing could take that away from them, until six days after their sweet Evelyn was born. May 2023, Kerry was admitted to hospital with a severe case of sepsis and the fear from the doctors she wouldn’t make it through that. After emergency scans to find where the sepsis had come from, Kerry and her family were told a cancerous tumour had ruptured her bowel, subsequently giving her sepsis and worse yet, informed that her bowel was inoperable. This resulted in Kerry being given a stoma, just days after their daughter was born. Kerry then spent the next 9 months undergoing regular chemo and radiotherapy to fight the Bowel Cancer.

On 26th February 2024, after a successful course of chemotherapy, doctors told Kerry that the tumour was now small enough to remove and she could undergo the surgical procedure to remove it. Surgeons in the Diana Princess of Wales Hospital, Grimsby were delighted to inform Kerry that her surgery went well however, shortly after she was diagnosed with Stage 3 Kidney Failure. Luckily for the family, whilst still undergoing chemotherapy, Kerry was able to get treatment for her Kidney Failure and was given the all clear from the doctors. Finally it was starting to look like Kerry, Jamie and Evelyn could be the worry-free, happy family they’d always dreamed of.

6th August 2024 is the day they had all hoped for. Kerry announces to her family “I’M CANCER FREE!” Joy spreads as the wider family celebrates this great news and sheer excitement of a life without cancer consumes Kerry.

Six months go by in a flash. Kerry, Jamie and Evelyn all living as a happy family until that fateful day on 11th February 2025. Following on from a six month scan after she hoped for her stoma to be reversed, Kerry and Jamie were asked to attend the clinic in Grimsby where after being sat down, they were told the cancer has been found again in the pelvis and had spread to her liver. They then find out the realistic life expectancy is 2-3 years. This of course comes as a complete shock to everyone and has flipped their lives upside down completely.

Why we're raising funds for Kerry

Hello, my name is Katie and I have created this appeal on behalf of my sister-in-law, Kerry. Firstly, thank you for reading about this amazing woman. The reason we have made this page to raise funds is because:

Kerry, who works as a childminder with her mother-in-law, will likely have to give up her job due to the effects chemotherapy will have on her. Any funds raised will go to helping support her family to be there by her side without the worry of where money will come from.
Whilst doctors have given her 2-3 years life expectancy, that won’t stop Kerry from looking at options. She is going to receive palliative chemotherapy under the NHS and within 6 months doctors will know if it is having an effect on the tumour at which point she could be given the option to have surgery but with no guarantees, as it stands Kerry cannot be operated on. Regardless, the family are looking at going private at a clinic in London with a specialist called Jamie Murphy whose expertise is on her form of cancer. Initial consultation fees for his clinic are £300. Jamie offers a greater number of treatment options and offers hope for Kerry.

Any funds raised will go directly to Kerry so she can explore potentially life-prolonging treatment within the private healthcare sector whilst also allowing her to support her family and allow them to live the happiest of their days left with their Wife and Mother. Some of the money will be used for Jamie and Kerry to make lasting memories with Evelyn. Nobody deserves to lose their mum or partner like this, so your kind donations will help this family have an incredibly special time with what time they have left together.

Anything you can spare will go a long way for this family. If you're unable to donate it would mean the world if you could share this page with others.

Thank you for your kindness, generosity and support.
