The Wagners received the call that a heart was available for Megan on October 4th around noon. They hurried down to Rochester, and got her admitted before she was taken to the operating room at 9 pm that evening. The heart arrived in Rochester around 4 am, and by 6 am on October 5th, the heart was beating inside Megan's body. Megan has a long road to recovery. Because her body was supported by an LVAD (heart pump) for three years, her vascular system is not used to having to push the blood throughout her body. They are treating that with some medication now. Megan will be in the hospital for a while. One of the transplant requirements is that she will need to live in Rochester for three months or longer after the transplant to be close to the clinic/hospital. During this time, one of her parents will need to be with her and will not be able to work. Due to this, the Wagners will have many expenses and lost wages. The Wagners are very reluctant to ask for help. However, they appreciate any support you can provide. Thank you.
