URGENT: Disaster Relief for Lebanon
Donation protected
On August 4th, 2020, a massive explosion shocked Beirut, leaving over 200 dead (and counting), over 5000 injured, over 500 missing, 300,000 homeless and several hospitals and medical facilities with severe damage, including a children's cancer centre. Lebanon has already been suffering economic and political turmoil, fuel and food shortages, made worse by the pandemic, and now even worse by this horrific event. Fuel shortages are forcing medical teams to operate using cell phone lights. Disaster relief teams are digging through the rubble of collapsed buildings to find missing people. Lebanon needs your support, this is an urgent matter.
My goal is to raise funds as fast as possible to support housing relief, food relief, and medical aid. I am in contact with friends and family heavily impacted by this tragedy, people who are on the ground and can help me assess the needs and allocate the funds accordingly. I am raising $5K to redistribute through channels that are engaging in disaster relief efforts.
Lebanese people have lost hope. I want to give them hope again by showing them that the international community cares about and supports them. Help me give them hope.
Update on how the funds will de distributed, $1000 to each of the following:
The Lebanese Red Cross (medical relief)
The Lebanese Food Bank (food relief)
Egna Legna (support for migrant workers)
Beit El Baraka (basic needs for marginalized communities)
Supporting the Lebanese queer and trans community (details to come)
Thank you so much for your support.
