Dad of Three Seeks Help In Time of Medical Crisis

Seeing your loved one carried away in an ambulance is not anyone's idea of how to spend what should be a happy Mother's Day, however that was the surreal situation that Brett Frana and his family found themselves in.

Brett had been on home oxygen for two months, after winning a battle with pneumonia in March, while also having a pre-existing lung condition (pulmonary fibrosis). His o2 saturation levels had dropped to a scary degree, and he was left unable to even stand up from his favorite armchair. He had spent the entire day exhausted, struggling to find a position that didn't make it so hard to breathe, worrying selflessly that he was unable to make the day special in his usual fashion for his partner of 12 years, the mother of his 3 lovely children. The decision was made that he had to go in to the hospital, and he wasn't able to make it to the vehicle of their dear friend who offered to drive him in, so an ambulance had to be called.

His three children watched their father as he was lifted by strangers from a chair and taken away into the night. Again. They haven't been able to hug him since.

Their father is an amazing man, who has lived quite the extraordinary life. Prior to settling down with his girl and making a family together, Brett was a touring musician. He played in the NYC based band Bile, and for the LA based band My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult. When he wasn't on the road, Brett enjoyed his career working behind the scenes to build sets and stages for Broadway, concerts, and large events in NYC first for BML and then later for All Access.

Who knew that his greatest adventure was to come with the arrival of his three little ones, followed by buying a house, and then the first family dog. He is always saying how this is the most exciting adventure of his life, being Connor, Evelyn, and Stella's Dad.

Unfortunately, with medical bills piling up while trying to find answers to newer medical problems, and the basic expenses of life for a family of 5, Brett has found himself stuck in a hospital bed, away from his family, and unable to work and provide an income to ensure that his family continues to have a roof over their heads. Doctors are struggling to find out how to help keep his lungs working there, and are unsure of whether or not he will ever come home. The only option may be a lung transplant. Hence why the GoFundMe is being raised, so that Brett can focus on his health right now instead of panicking over how he is going to pay the bills and feed his children. Brett has a reputation for always being the guy who lends a helping hand with a big smile, going above and beyond to aid his friends, family, and strangers. Whether it’s helping his son and his fellow Boy Scouts on their adventures, or just finding a way to entertain and bring joy to other children. It is not easy to be on the other side of that fence now, being the one who has to ask for help. He realizes that it is more than just him he is asking for, though, and is deeply appreciative of those who are providing of it, as is his family. Thank you!
