Dad's fight against cancer

Donation protected
Updated: Sadly, my father passed away on Sunday, April 15th. All the money raised through his GoFundMe will be used to cover funeral expenses, as well as his celebration of life party that he was really looking forward to. His goal was reached thanks to everyone who was able to donate/share, and I thank each and everyone one of you for all of your help. I know was dad was "extremely humbled" by everyone's help, as am I.

My dad was the most selfless man that I knew, and I one day hope to be like him. He showed his love through food and attending to others and was always ready to have a good time. He will truly be missed by his family, friends, and me. I am very sad that my father will not physically be here to watch my future accomplishments, but I know that he will be watching over me.

The celebration of life party will also be Dan's funeral, so please stop by and help celebrate Dan! Feel free to contact me through Facebook for the information. Any additional donations would be greatly appreciated to help cover the funeral expenses.

As always, thank you and God bless you all.

His daughter, Allison.

Hi everyone,

My father was recently diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer. His cancer has spread to his lungs, pancreas, femur, and esophagus. This news has completely changed my life. On Easter Sunday my dad was rushed to the ER because his left and right gastric arteries ruptured. The tumor he has in his stomach was feeding off of the arteries which caused him to have internal bleeding. My father received 14 units of blood and it took a total of 8 hours for the doctors to stop the bleeding.
Since I am his only child, I had to make some hard decisions that day. For example, the doctors asked me, "If your father's heart stops, what would you like us to do?" When my father was rushed to the ER, he refused to let anyone call me because of his fear of me worrying. Ever since I was a little girl, I always worried about my dad's health. I woke up at 6 am on Monday to several missed calls and a voicemail from my father telling me how much he loved me and how he was sorry he couldn't say goodbye.

With this being said, a nurse from the ER who was with my father found me and told me how proud my father said he was of me. She told me that he "joked" about wanting a party to celebrate his life. Well dad, a party is what you're going to get.  My 19th birthday is April 22nd and my birthday wish is to make sure that my dad gets his wish, so I am raising money to help celebrate my dad's life. Since my dad lived in Hawaii for 10 years, I want to bring Hawaii to him by having Hawaiian dancers from Chicago perform. Not only will the money donated help pay for his celebration of life party, but for other expenses that come along with this journey such as the healthy (not cheap) food that he needs to stay strong for chemo, and the extra help needed for medical expenses.  I have made the decision to move in with my father and leave my campus dorm behind in order to make sure he is getting the proper care he needs, and it would mean the world to him and me to receive some help.

His celebration of life party will give close family and friends the opportunity to all get-together and spend time with my father. When I received that voicemail from my dad, I thought I wasn't going to be able to say goodbye. This party will make sure that no one who loves my dad feels like that.

I want to give a huge thank you to all of my family who spent all day at the hospital with me for the week, friends/family who came to see my dad, and to everyone, for all the kind words you are sending him. This is a journey that my dad and family must take one day at a time. Thank you in advance to everyone who donated, shared, and read this post. (A Facebook invitation will be sent out within the next couple days with more details about his party)

His daughter,

Allison
