Diabetic Alert Dog for Braylon
Donation protected
We have started a fundraiser to help pay for a life saving Diabetic Alert Dog for our 5 year old son named Braylon. Braylon has recently been diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and was hospitalized for 4 days in ICU with blood glucose levels at almost 900!!!! He is in dire need of having a Diabetic Alert Service Dog to help monitor his blood glucose levels and alert when the levels become abnormal. Your donation will help us with the cost of obtaining a Diabetic Alert Service Dog. Every dollar will help!!!
A Diabetic Alert Service Dog is a dog that gives a trained signal to alert when blood glucose levels are no longer in the normal range. Type 1 Diabetes cannot be cured and must be managed by checking blood glucose levels many times a day for the rest of his life. Braylon’s blood glucose levels vary throughout each day and night and he is too young to recognize when his blood glucose level reaches dangerous levels. Normal blood glucose level ranges from 100-200 but Braylon’s blood glucose levels have gone as low as 52 and as high as 500. His blood glucose can sometimes get dangerously high or low which could result in seizures, coma, or even death. It is very difficult to monitor the blood glucose level of children, especially when they are so small, young and active and they are unable to recognize the symptoms of abnormal or dangerous levels. Right now, the only way to monitor his blood glucose level is to prick his finger and take a sample, many times each day and again in the middle of the night. To help us manage Braylon’s blood glucose level it is imperative that we obtain a Diabetic Alert Service Dog.
We have learned that there is an organization called Diabetic Alert Dogs of America. Their mission is to provide individuals and families that are challenged by diabetes with world class Service Dogs. These service dogs provide quality of life by providing independence, companionship, and life saving abilities. The cost of getting a Diabetic Alert Dog is $15,000. We are required to pay $2,500 up front to get Braylon's Diabetic Alert Dog in training (which has already been done). Then that would leave $12,500 that we would need to paid before his dog comes home. Ever single dollar will help us achieve the goal of paying the cost of obtaining this alert dog for Braylon and every donation is greatly appreciated.
Donations can also be made directly to Diabetic Alert Dogs of America by calling (702) 405- 0171 and referencing Braylon.
Please, please help us raise the money for this Diabetic Alert Service dog. Help me, help my child. Every donation, no matter how large or small counts. My heartfelt thank you to each of you!
