Hi my name is Audrie Smith. It seems like my sister and brother in law can’t catch a break. In May of this year they had adopted a dog from the franklin county dog shelter. Things were going well with him being in the house. Then around August things started to change. He started to get into anything and everything. He was taken to an emergency vet on August 12th because he was lethargic. The vet told them that they he needed to have emergent surgery due to a 4 objects being lodged in his small intestine. They paid $10,000 to keep him alive & had 3 weeks of recovery time with him. He became a different dog after his surgery and he wasn't getting along with their dogs anymore. So they tried rehoming him through multiple different rehoming places but no one had any spots open for him. They have been keeping the dogs in separate areas of the house to make sure there were no accidents. But after all their efforts that wasn't enough because Daenerys was attacked on 9/23. My boyfriend had got home from work early and the house looked like a murder scene. The couches were moved around the living room, blood on the walls, and the dogs were all covered in blood. Daenerys was bleeding from her neck area so he packed her up and rushed her to the emergency vet. She’s in critical condition at The OSU Veterinary Center. They told her that she needs to be in the ICU right now to be monitored. They told us that she has extensive wounds around her neck, jaw, ear and head. They’ve already cleaned the area where all the major puncture wounds are and they had to connect the wounds because there were so many. When they got to go visit with her, she was almost unrecognizable from the degree of her injuries. They are planning to do a wound debridement of the area, clean it then bandage her back up again because she is still bleeding but they don’t believe any major arteries or veins were hit in the attack. There’s also concerns for a possible brain injury. Daenerys is fighting for her life right now and we want to do everything possible to help her parents through this time. This would be a long journey for wound care & possible brain injury recovery. Daenerys is the sweetest, cuddly girl and loves to play and get all the love from everyone around her. If there’s anything you can do to help them with this journey, it would be greatly appreciated. We will keep you all updated on our dani girls recovery.
