Daines Family (Ashley, Parker, Brooklyn)

Hi all, I am Cynthia Daines, sister-in-law to Parker and Ashley Daines, and the best Aunt to little guy Brooklyn for whom I am fundraising. :)

On Feb 10th, Brooklyn was diagnosed by an urgent care doctor with pink eye and sent home with meds. After 10 days of minimal progress, they returned to urgent care on Feb 20th.

The next day Feb 21st, Brooklyn was seen at Simi Hospital but they routed them to Childrens Hospital ER Feb 22nd so he could receive the best care possible.

On Feb 23rd, Brooklyn was admitted to Childrens Hospital (Los Angeles) PICU due to high blood pressure.

It then turned into multiple weeks stay in the hospital and an endless days of tests and lab work. Brooklyn has recently been diagnosed with Vasculitis, an autoimmune disease Polyarteritis nodosa (PAN) and his blood pressure is being managed with oral medication. There are still countless tests and labs we are waiting results for but as long as his blood pressure continues to be stable, they should be able to rest at home while awaiting the remainder of his prognosis. Brooklyn will be on a steroid treatment and anti-inflammation infusions at Children’s Hospital every month for up to a year or until improvement and/or hopeful remission of PAN.

Fortunately, the majority of medical expenses have been covered by their insurance but living expenses (especially in SoCal) is rather taxing.

Neither parent have been able to work during this time so any monetary funds you can donate will be an amazing boost in getting them back into the swing of things.
