Daisy‘s Dream Bike
Donation protected
Hi, I’m Dale and i am fundraising on behalf of my 17 year old daughter Daisy. Daisy was born with a condition named Angelmans Syndrome which has left her with extremely complex needs. While at school Daisy was given the opportunity to ride a bike made especially for wheelchair users and during her time on the bike she was in her complete element. Unfortunately these bikes are extremely expensive, with STARTING prices from £6500 not adding ontop any alterations that Daisy may need. As a family this is just something we can’t afford right now or anytime soon. A friend mentioned setting up a go fund me page to try help raise the funds needed to be able to make Daisys’s dream bike a reality. Daisy has never wanted for anything out of life but she still definitely deserves to have the little enjoyments out of it that many of us take for granted daily without even realising. Even the smallest of donations would be hugely appreciated or even just a like and share to get the message out there!
UPDATE - On the 4th November we took Daisy to York as we found a company who can make and supply the bikes in the UK. While we was there we got to have a look at different models of the bikes and find one that was right for Daisy. Unfortunately the Vaan ram model which we were first looking at for Daisy will not be suitable, as on inspection it is just too big. It wouldn’t fit in Daisy’s disability vehicle or even through our gate at home so this model has now been ruled out. Daisy tested other models and we found a smaller bike which would be much more suitable for her and family life. This model also comes apart so when Daisy is out and about in the community the bike can turn into a separate wheelchair, making it more accessible so Daisy can easily navigate into changing facilities or shops/cafe’s with us as a family. The lady measured up Daisy and has added together all the alterations Daisy will need and has given us a FINAL price of £8595.43 .. this has gone up to what we originally started trying to fundraise for, but having not taken Daisy to a proper facility to look at the bikes or try them out and get an actual price with alterations specifically for Daisy the old total was never a definite and more of a starting goal so we could get the ball rolling so we are really sorry for any confusion that this may have caused along the way.
So far we have made an amazing £5870 and we as a family can’t thank the amazing support from family, friends and the community enough for coming together and raising such an incredible amount in such a short amount of time for Daisy. Now that we have an end exact total we would love to have your continued support in helping to get us to the last push of the end total. We have a fundraiser coming up on Daisy’s 18th birthday on the 25th November where we hope to see lots of faces and hopefully raise funds towards our goal amount.
With lots of love Daisy doo and especially me her mum, thank you xx
