Financial support for Daisy and Monserrat Soto

Our mother, Juana (Soto) Tapia-Lopez was a victim of a hit-and-run on November 20th, 2022. A few days before Thanksgiving, a vehicle hit my mom and left as she was on her way to get me from work. Our mom hit her head and suffered a traumatic brain injury. Our mother has been in the hospital since the accident and is in critical condition right now. This has been really hard on me and my little sister, our mother is all we have left since our dad passed in 2016.

Our mother migrated from Mexico and has spent all of her life stressed due to always looking out for others. She was a hardworking woman and has worked all her life. For a time period, we lived in a van due to our home burning down. When our father passed away in 2016, us and our mother struggled even more financially. For two years, we were able to get by with public assistance. We had to relocate a couple times due to financial hardship and are now in the process of relocating again.

Our mother always gave the little that she had to others. She volunteered in churches, helped those in need, and in many organizations. She loved to crochet, attend the group at church, garden, and be a member of her community - La Villita. She was an active member of her community and was known by many. She has always been a warrior and always looked out for others and our families. Her entire life has been devoted to us and her grandchildren. She was always active in our lives. She loved being around people. Our mom was a happy woman. She always found the good in things and in others. She is our role model and has been an exemplary mother. She always tried her best to see us happy and made sure we were safe. Our mother was very caring, understanding, and accepting of others. We are devastated.

This GoFundMe is on behalf of my sister and me. Everything feels very surreal, things will never be the same without her. Overall, she is leaving behind a total of 5 children and 10 grandchildren. Donations of any amount are really appreciated and will be used to cover all upcoming expenses plus living expenses for my sister and me. Nuestra madre, Juana (Soto) Tapia-López, fue víctima de un atropello y fuga el 20 de noviembre de 2022. Unos días antes del Día de Acción de Gracias, un vehículo atropelló a mi madre cuando iba en camino a buscarme del trabajo. . Nuestra madre se golpeó la cabeza y sufrió una lesión cerebral traumática. Nuestra madre ha estado en el hospital desde el accidente y se encuentra en estado crítico en este momento. Esto ha sido muy duro para mí y para mi hermana pequeña, nuestra madre es todo lo que nos queda desde que nuestro padre falleció en 2016.

Nuestra madre emigró de México y ha pasado toda su vida luchando. Era una mujer trabajadora y ha trabajado toda su vida. Durante un tiempo, vivimos en un vehículo debido a que nuestra casa se quemó. Cuando nuestro padre falleció en 2016, nuestra madre luchó aún más financieramente. Durante dos años, pudimos sobrevivir solo con asistencia pública. Tuvimos que mudarnos varias veces debido a dificultades financieras y ahora estamos en proceso de mudarnos nuevamente.

Nuestra madre siempre dio lo poco que tenía a los demás. Se ofreció como voluntaria en iglesias, ayudó a los necesitados y en muchas organizaciones. Le encantaba tejer, asistir al grupo en la iglesia, el jardín y ser miembro de su comunidad: La Villita. Era un miembro activo de su comunidad y muchos la conocían. Ella siempre ha sido una guerrera y siempre cuidó de los demás y de la familia. Toda su vida ha estado dedicada a nosotros y a sus nietos. Ella siempre estuvo activa en nuestras vidas. Le encantaba estar rodeada de gente. Nuestra mamá era una mujer feliz. Siempre encontraba el bien en las cosas y en los demás. Ella es nuestra razón a seguir y ha sido una madre ejemplar. Ella siempre hizo todo lo posible para vernos felices y se aseguró de que estuviéramos a salvo. Nuestra madre era muy cariñosa, comprensiva y aceptaba a los demás. Estamos devastados.

Este GoFundMe es en nombre de mi hermana y mío. Todo se siente muy surrealista, las cosas nunca serán lo mismo sin ella. En general, deja un total de 5 hijos y 10 nietos.
