Help Da’jon after BLM arrest
Donation protected
Dajon Lengyel is a 25-year-old man who was arrested during the George Floyd protests in Pittsburgh, standing up against police brutality and unfair treatment of African Americans. The events of the past few years have highlighted the ongoing systemic racism and violence that Black Americans face in their everyday lives, far too often subjected to harassment, discrimination, and violence at the hands of law enforcement.
Da’jon is just one of many individuals who have decided to take a stand against this injustice, and unfortunately, he paid the price for it with his arrest. Despite there being no clear evidence that he started the fire, Da’jon was convicted of conspiracy to commit arson on a police vehicle and sentenced to 27 months in federal prison. As we continue to see countless crimes of police brutality in the media, including those involving Rodney King, Philando Castile, Trayvon Martin, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, and many more, Da'jon felt he could no longer be a bystander to the injustices on his people. He decided to stand up for his pride and who he is.
Da’jon has been held in inhumane conditions during his tenure at the Allegheny County Jail in 2020, during the Covid pandemic. He was on a 23-1 lockdown for months with minimal hygiene supplies. Now in Hazelton FCI, the same conditions apply. Additionally, he has been having issues with his release date being changed.
When Da’jon returns home, he will face restitution fees for the police vehicle. The funds collected here are being used for Da’jon’s needs while in prison, his fines, and to get himself on his feet upon release and to set him up for a successful future. We have worked closely with Da’jon to set up this fundraiser and he is thankful for whoever takes the time to read about his situation.
