Funding for DRD - Infrared Sauna
If you ask Dale De Steno, the owner/operator of DRD Training – a non-gym workout experience, about his time spent in an infrared sauna, he'll tell you, "It's amazing!" When a person is taking a cancer medication, you always feel cold. And living in the Midwest in the winter means you really suffer.
Dale learned in August 2021 that he has Non Small Cell Stage 4 Lung Cancer Exon Deletion 19, which has spread to other parts of his body. He is currently on what they call a "Miracle Drug" named Tagrisso. A pill taken once a day consistently and indefinitely. This has provided cancer survivors, years, sometimes many years of quality life! At some point, cancer outsmarts the daily pill and you work with your oncologist to start the next new Miracle Drug (unknown what that is at this time, but research is always being done and we won't give up hope that it will be available), or Chemo, Immunotherapy, or possibly a clinical trial if one is available.
There are reasons upon reasons as to why an infrared sauna is beneficial to a cancer patient. Although there isn't specific proof that it will slow or cure cancer, there is evidence that it doesn't have any NEGATIVE effects. The positive effects of a sauna are ones that SUPPORT fighting cancer, so that in itself is a reason why I strongly feel my brother needs an in-home infrared sauna. He has attended 2 sessions at location that offers a package deal. However with life, appointments, busy childrens' schedules, work, holidays and again, life, he's not able to consistently get there. If it's anything I've learned since August when we received the news from the doctor, it's the importance of:
A) Not settling for what the Dr tells you and to ALWAYS be educating yourself.
B) Be the squeaky wheel, and advocate for your needs.
C) Find a spiritual practice and practice with ROUTINE. (for more information on this, read or listen to the book: Radical Remission, by Dr. Kelly Turner).
Some of the benefits of an infrared sauna, which in turn will help Dale to fight a fight we will win is:
Infrared heat = sweating = accelerating detoxification. And when you are putting a chemical into your body that arrives via medical courier in a locked cooler, and you have to be home to sign for it. Also, try to not touch it....
Raising your core body temp and speeds up metabolism.
Provides pain relief. The side effects of Tagrisso can include achyness and pain.
Stress reduction - KEY for allowing your immune system to work at his fullest capacity.
Increased weight loss / burns calories.
Lowers Blood Pressure.
Skin rejuvenation- if you have seen Dales' blog, you are aware this is an additional battle and big side effect of Tagrisso.
Improved circulation- VERY important for fighting cancer. It helps the cells to "move out" and dispose of the old or sick cells.
Reduction of muscle tension.
Boosting immune system - Speaks for itself!
No adverse effects have been reported with infrared saunas.- Mayo Clinic
If Dale had an in-home Infrared Sauna, he plans to use it on a regular basis for
35-45 mins each session to receive the benefits listed above.
Additionally! He can add other spiritual and mental health benefits by:
-Using essential oils for Aromatherapy
-Reading (Our entire family is trying to read all the books out there to further our education on additional ways to fight cancer including alternative healing modalities like Reiki, starving cancer by eating in a way it can't survive, Healing Touch, meditation, Qiqong, yoga, etc).
-Meditation or guided imagery as broadcasted through the speakers.
-Light therapy, built into the sauna.
-Writing blogs.
-Self-reflection and time to find peace away from the daily hussle.
I wanted to find an Infrared 2-person sauna to post here to show which one I'm aiming to purchase. However, I am also open to input on brands and styles! Please let me know in the comments if you have ideas or experience with a good one. I know enough about them to know we can find a quality sauna between $2-$4k. If you are able to help, even the smallest amount, Dale and our entire family appreciates your generosity to consider this cause. Dale has a big lifetime ahead of him, and we want to make sure he can be the healthiest version of himself to keep doing the amazing things he's doing for his kids, wife, family and most of all- you!
With Gratitude,
Dawn De Steno, sister
