So many people have asked what happened to Anita so….
She had been sick and was on anabiotics. She was getting better but on Saturday night all of the sudden she wasn’t acting right and her face turned purple. We discovered she had pulled her oxygen tube down and had not put it back in her nose. We secured her oxygen back on her face and called 911, an ambulance arrived and took her to the hospital in Decatur. They told us she had pneumonia and sepsis. They put her in ICU and started her on steroids and antibiotics. She responded greatly to the antibiotics and on Monday they told us she’d probably be home in two or three days. then she was putting put in a regular room. Early Tuesday morning she was taken for a CT scan and was returned to her room with a mysterious large deep wound across her shin. When a doctor saw her wound, they said she had to have it surgically sewn up so she had that done Tuesday afternoon they could not close it all the way up because she did not have enough skin. However she did well but her stomach was hurting from not having her medication’s and food so she cried out in pain often for several hours and then they finally got her some relief and she went to sleep . They told us she was stable and doing well. Everyone went home to let her sleep. At 5 AM we got a phone call saying they were doing chest compressions and did we want them to continue. We told him yes do everything you can and we’re on our way. We woke up Joseph and Aleena and we went to the hospital as fast as we could but we did not make it. Her heart couldn’t take it. We went to her room and the doctor came out and told us with the sepsis and the cut across her leg. Her heart just couldn’t take it and that she didn’t make it.
The hospital is investigating the cut on her leg and how it happened but we have not heard anything back. A Wise county judge showed up and we were asked permission for an autopsy and of course we said yes, because clearly they find the cut on her leg suspicious as well. We did not plan on this. It was a big shock. Our household is forever changed. If you would like to contribute to her funeral and legal expenses, it would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
The Weems Family.
